Visuospatial Working Memory for Autonomous UAVs: A Bio-Inspired Computational Model

چکیده
Visuospatial working memory is a fundamental cognitive capability of human beings needed for exploring the visual environment. This function responsible creating visuospatial maps, which are useful maintaining coherent and continuous representation spatial relationships among objects present in external world. A bio-inspired computational model Working Memory (VSWM) proposed this paper to endow Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with function. The VSWM was implemented on low-cost commercial drone. total 30 test cases were designed executed. These grouped into three scenarios: (i) environments static dynamic vehicles, (ii) people, (iii) people vehicles. ability measured terms classify locate capable interest presented environment even when stimulus lost because occlusion. represents step towards autonomous UAVs forming mental imagery realistic environments.

The prefrontal cortex (PFC) in the brain is considered as the main responsible of cognitive processes. This brain area is adjacent to the sensorial and motor cortices, and most importantly, gets innervated by dopamine, the neurotransmitter associated to pleasure and reward. This setting allows neuronal ensembles belonging to the PFC to form associations between sensory cues, actions and reward,...
متن کاملA metacognitive visuospatial working memory training for children
The paper studies whether visuospatial working memory (VSWM) and, specifically, recall of sequential-spatial information, can be improved by metacognitive training. Twenty-two fourth-grade children were involved in seven sessions of sequential-spatial memory training, while twenty-four children attended lessons given by their teacher. The posttraining evaluation demonstrated a specific improvem...
متن کاملA computational model for spatial working memory deficits in schizophrenia.
Cognitive deficits in schizophrenia have been hypothesized to be caused by altered synaptic transmission in circuits of the prefrontal cortex. 2 main hypotheses have been put forward: reduced inhibition and hypofunctional NMDA receptors. Recently, Lee et al. (2008) found that spatial working memory deficits in schizophrenic patients include a disproportionately high incidence of high-confidence...
متن کاملAge differences in visuospatial working memory.
In two visuospatial working memory (VSWM) span experiments, older and young participants were tested under conditions of either high or low interference, using two different displays: computerized versions of a 3 x 3 matrix or the standard (randomly arrayed) Corsi block task (P. M. Corsi, 1972). Older adults' VSWM estimates were increased in the low-interference, compared with the high-interfer...
متن کاملAnxiety selectively disrupts visuospatial working memory.
On the basis of a review of the extant literature describing emotion-cognition interactions, the authors propose 4 methodological desiderata for studying how task-irrelevant affect modulates cognition and present data from an experiment satisfying them. Consistent with accounts of the hemispheric asymmetries characterizing withdrawal-related negative affect and visuospatial working memory (WM) ...
